We love libraries and always have.  It was a great rite of passage as a child to get your own card, toddling up to the counter with an armload of picture books, the stack almost as tall as yourself.  Many summer days were spent perusing the shelves to get the next Nancy Drew, Phyllis A. Whitney or Judy Blume. It was such an event to get the permission to finally sign out books from the adult section, new worlds opening up.

Even now as grown-ups, hunting and seeking in local bookstores and on-line, for both new and used books, and possessing our own personal libraries, we both still love going to the borrowing collections, taking out armloads of stories, potential adventures that others have shared and enjoyed.  So you can well imagine how excited we were to see that our local system has acquired three copies of STRANGLED BY SILK, which joins us into the ranks of those travels that we have journeyed.  It was a milestone moment and made us feel just that much more legit.  It means more readers, more people to share our tales with.

Larger publishers, in our library system at least, have a fairly easy time having their books picked up for their readers’ collection.  Speaking as authors under a new but rapidly growing press, we understand that librarians and acquisitions departments may need a gentle nudge.  We encourage all of you enjoying the novels of the upstarts and underdogs to talk to your library representatives.  Usually a quick e-mail through their website or a brief word with the appropriate person, including the book title, author, publisher and ISBN number is all they need.  They’re readers too and on the prowl for great offerings to share with the public.  It’s always good to spread the love of a good book!
