Swinging Holiday Partytime!

Hi there, guys and dolls!  Tis the season for the parties!  Here’s some of my favorite things that bring the sashay to the swing and make the season a little jollier.

Start by adding the right people — the fun in-crowd with the life of the party built-in!  This group looks like a pleasant start.1950s-partytumblr_m5qfmpCv961qj0svno1_1280

Make sure you have plenty of swell tunes to keep the happy folk bunny hopping all night long.  Live music is great, as artist and musicians always make a party event all on their own with their beatnik and free love ideas, but if you can’t hire this guy pictured on the right and his band, there’s some great tunes out there.  Try Frank Sinatra, Mel Torme, Peggy Lee, or go ahead and stack a pile of wax by its covers.  Anything that has a party vibe like the album cover below has got to be nifty and frisky, right?

No party is complete without the proper libations and nibbles.  Pigs in a blankets, anyone?  What about a festive pair of cherry red and lime green jello salads?  Add a pimento loaf and olive molded pineapple pyramid, a fully stocked bar with enough booze to flatten an army and a handsome bartender.  The night will just fly!

Green Dress

And of course, just what will you wear?  A swirling, silk, seductive dress in a festive tone of red, green, or gold?  A little number like the one on the right should have them lining up under the mistletoe!

However you choose to celebrate the season with your friends and loved ones, know that yours truly is wishing you a toast of the bubbly and sending you love and good wishes.  So lacquer that hair in place, put on a thick application of black eyeliner and red lipstick and you are ready to meet your adoring public in your kitten heeled best!

Toodles,

Barbara Jean
